Mechanical Engineering
Mechanical engineering is a discipline of engineering that applies the principles of engineering, physics and materials science for analysis, design, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. It is the branch of engineering that involves the production and usage of heat and mechanical power for the design, production, and operation of machines and tools. Mechanical Engineering is used in contributing to the design of things such as automobiles, aircraft, and other vehicles, heating and cooling systems, household appliances, industrial equipment and machinery.

We specialise mainly in Mechanical Engineering and provide material in Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Mechanics of Solids, Materials, Fluid Power, Mechatronics, Control, Electrical, Electronics and Maths.
Design of Machine Elements 1
Choice of materials for a machine element depends very much on its properties, cost, availability and such other factors. It is therefore important to have some idea of the common engineering materials and their properties before learning the details of design procedure.
Manufacturing Processes I
There are four basic production processes for producing desired shape of a product. These are casting, machining, joining (welding, mechanical fastners, epoxy, etc.), and deformation processes.
Manufacturing Processes II
Classification of Metal Removal Processes and Machine tools. Mechanics of Machining (Metal Cutting). General Purpose Machine Tools. Abrasive Processes (Grinding). Superfinishing processes

Computer-aided design (CAD) is the use of computer systems to assist in the creation, modification, analysis, or optimization of a design. CAD software is used to increase the productivity of the designer, improve the quality of design, improve communications through documentation, and to create a database for manufacturing
Computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) is the use of computer software to control machine tools and related machinery in the manufacturing of workpieces
CAM is now a system used in schools and lower educational purpoeses CAM is a subsequent computer-aided process after computer-aided design (CAD) and sometimes computer-aided engineering (CAE)

Lubricants - Tribology-ABC - Machine Lubrication
The type of lubricant used has a significant impact on the lifetime performance and reliability of a machine. Optimal lubricant selection and management depends on understanding the lubrication regime (i.e., boundary, mixed or hydrodynamic lubrication), lubricant properties, established classifications, maintenance plans and an ability to interpret and apply the producer’s product specifications to the equipment

Lubrication Fundamentals
Boundary Lubrication, Lubrication and Lubricants, Hydrodynamic or Fluid Film Lubrication, Extreme Pressure (EP) Lubrication, Elastohydrodynamic (EHD) Lubrication
Gear Lubrication
When properly selected and applied, gear lubricants reduce friction and wear, help to prevent corrosion, reduce operating noise, improve heat transfer and facilitate removal of abrasive wear particles from the contact areas of the gear tooth surfaces
Lubrication - Grease
Grease is used for lubrication of contact surfaces where it is not practical or convenient to use oil.
Hydraulic fluids are required to provide lubrication of contact surfaces within system components, sealing of equipment with tight clearances and removal of heat generated within the system. It must also protect system components against rust, oxidation and corrosion.

* * * * * * Machine Tools Information * * * * * *

A Machine Tool is a machine for shaping or machining metal or other rigid materials, usually by cutting, boring, grinding, shearing or other forms of deformation. Machine tools employ some sort of tool that does the cutting or shaping.
Numerical control (NC) is the automation of machine tools that are operated by abstractly programmed commands encoded on a storage medium, as opposed to controlled manually via handwheels or levers, or mechanically automated via cams alone. In modern CNC systems, end-to-end component design is highly automated using computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) programs. The programs produce a computer file that is interpreted to extract the commands needed to operate a particular machine.

Laser Calibration
Machine alignment and calibration starts with being level, flat, straight and square. Machine “earth” level is an important benchmark if you want to check yourself in the future without the need of a laser system. Straightness of travel, including the components pitch, yaw, & roll come before machine tool squareness. Laser calibration of positioning accuracy completes the picture with rotary axes laser calibrated as well.
Ballbar Calibration
A Ballbar is one of the most powerful all-around tools for CNC evaluation and is the single best device for checking the contouring accuracy of machine tools. Ballbar tests show how two axes work together to move the machine in a circular path. In a perfect machine, two axes would make a perfect circle. The Ballbar test measures any deviation the machine makes from a perfect circle and displays the data in a polar plot format. By analyzing the data, errors such as backlash, servo-error, periodic error, scale mismatch and squareness can be determined
